Materials
Mild steel
Cost-effective general-purpose material for brackets, panels and enclosures.
Stainless steel
Corrosion-resistant, food-safe grades available, higher cost than mild steel.
Aluminium
Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, good for panels and lightweight brackets.
See full specifications, available thicknesses and price indicators on the materials page.
Tolerances
Laser cut parts typically achieve a tolerance of around ± 0.1–0.2 mm, with an additional kerf allowance that depends on material and thickness. Edge condition (burr, dross or a small heat-affected zone) is inherent to the process and is not considered a defect within normal limits. Warping risk increases with thinner material and larger flat areas — thicker material or added tabs can help where this matters. Parts are supplied as cut: edges can be sharp, and deburring and hand finishing are not included unless we agree them in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Can you cut acrylic?
Not currently — see the supported materials above. At launch we only offer metal laser cutting in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
What thickness options are available?
Available thicknesses depend on the material you choose — for example 1, 2, 3 and 5 mm for mild steel. The material and thickness selectors in the quote wizard will show what's currently available.
Do you charge for pierce points?
Our pricing engine accounts for cut length and pierce count as part of the machine-time cost, so more complex nested geometry with many pierce points will typically cost more than a simple outline.
Can you cut complex nested parts?
Yes — our system analyses your DXF/SVG geometry automatically, including multiple parts nested in a single file.
What if my DXF has open (unclosed) paths?
Open paths can affect cut quality and may trigger a warning in the quote wizard. If your file can't be read as a closed profile at all, we'll flag it for manual review rather than blocking your quote outright.
