Materials
PLA
Easy to print, good for prototypes and low-load parts.
PETG
Tougher and more temperature-resistant than PLA, food-contact safe grades available.
ASA
UV and weather resistant, a good outdoor alternative to ABS.
TPU
Flexible, rubber-like material for gaskets, grips and flexible parts.
See full specifications, colours and price indicators on the materials page.
Tolerances
FDM parts typically achieve a tolerance of around ± 0.2 mm at our standard 0.2 mm layer height, though this can vary with material shrinkage, wall thickness, part geometry and orientation. Finer layer heights improve surface detail and dimensional accuracy at the cost of print time. If your part needs a tighter tolerance than the process standard, let us know in the notes at quote stage and we'll confirm whether it's achievable before you order.
Frequently asked questions
What infill should I choose?
20% is a good default for most non-structural parts and keeps cost and print time down. Choose 50% for parts that need more stiffness, or 100% (solid) for the strongest, heaviest parts or where the part will be machined or drilled afterwards.
What layer height should I pick?
0.2 mm is our standard setting and suits most parts. Choose 0.1 mm for finer surface detail and tighter tolerances (at a higher cost and longer print time), or 0.3 mm for a faster, cheaper draft print where surface finish matters less.
Which material should I use?
PLA is the easiest and cheapest option for prototypes and display parts. PETG is a good general-purpose upgrade with more toughness. ASA suits outdoor or UV-exposed parts. TPU is for flexible, rubber-like parts such as gaskets or grips. See the full comparison on our materials page.
What file formats do you accept?
We accept STL and 3MF files for FDM 3D printing, up to 100 MB per file.
Can I get a firm price straightaway?
Yes — FDM is one of our instant-quote processes. Upload your file, choose your material and options, and you'll get a firm, binding price immediately.
